A friendly country welcome awaits you in rural Wondai, just 3 hours northwest of Brisbane, Qld, for:

The 7th annual Wondai Country Running Festival 22/23 June 2024

You are the master of your running destiny!....

Choose either our 11.1km or 21.1km on Saturday afternoon and four choices on Sunday morning of either our 5km, 10km, half or full marathon. 

So, you can make your own 'Doubleup option' and for every runner who does a Saturday afternoon trail run and Sunday morning run, we will give you a FREE GIFT of local produce.  

To be eligible for this gift please select your Saturday forest run first and then select your Sunday event option.

Doubleup gifts will be handed out at bib pickup - Friday 3pm to 6pm and Saturday 7.30am to 4pm. Sunday pick up by arrangement only.

ABOUT THE TRAIL…

Our rail trail has gentle gradients and a bitumen surface and we offer options for everyone; from a 1km dash for cash, 2km family fun run, an all abilities event, or a 5km,10km, half marathon or full marathon.

Our 11.1km or 21.1km forest trail runs are through the picturesque McEuen forest. This is a more challenging and undulating trail and very beautiful.

All race start / finish locations are on the rail trail behind the Wondai Town Hall.

REFUND POLICY All refunds/ rollovers at the committees discretion. We will refund up until end of early bird (31 May) less $10 admin fee or rollover to next year up until 14 June 2024.  Dinner tickets are non refundable from 7 days prior when we confirm numbers with the caterer. Thanks 

WONDAI COUNTRY DINNER: 

We are again hosting a Country Dinner on Saturday 22 June 2024, starting at 5.45pm. We have booked the Wondai Town Hall - just near the start line. Our experienced caterer is working on a fabulous menu and choice of desserts. There will be a bar onsite. And yes, Mulled wine will feature. Tickets must be pre-booked and will be limited.  Please click here to book your seats:

SOCIAL BBQ:

We are delighted that the local Wondai Wolves, rugby league club will be hosting a BBQ on Friday 21 June, at the Wondai Art Gallery from 5pm, adjoining bib pickup. All are welcome to join us for a casual evening. More details can be found on facebook, but pre-booking is not necessary.

We have running events over the whole weekend to suit all runners. Our entry fees are reasonable and we aim to provide a professional, supportive and enjoyable event for everyone. We would love you to join us.

Saturday 22 June 7am: a Wondai parkrun to shake out the wrinkles in the legs

Saturday 22 June 8.15am: 1km CROW FM 90.7 DASH for CASH - numbers are strictly limited. There will be three age categories; 18 and under, 40 and under, and Masters. All for fun, so do give it a go! Money on offer! smiley

Saturday 22 June 8:45am: South Burnett CTC All Abilities race. Carers and wheelchairs welcome, but no motorised vehicles please.

Saturday 22 June 9am: the Hansen Kitchens Family 2km Fun Run on the rail trail. Untimed and social for all the family. Parents welcome to accompany young children. $5 entries on the day only. Lots of random prizes and everyone’s in with a chance for a prize.

Saturday 22 June 12.30pm: 21.1km Bega Peanuts Forest Trail 

Saturday 22 June 1.30pm: 11.1km Bega Peanuts Forest Trail

Two great choices Saturday afternoon, but it’s one or the other - not both!  

The start point is on the rail trial behind Wondai Town Hall. This is the same start point for all our events. The trail runs through the picturesque McEuen forest, which is adjoining Wondai township.

This cross-country course is an undulating forest trail through beautiful towering Spotted Gum and Wattle woodland. We will have a sweeper to ensure everyone’s home safe!

Sunday 23 June 6:30am: the Marathon

Sunday 23 June 7:00am: the half Marathon

Sunday 23 June 7:30am: the 10km rail trail run

Sunday 23 June 7:45am: the 5km rail trail run (new this year)

Both the 10km and 5km runs will take place on the pristine South Burnett Rail Trail.

Our South Burnett rail trail has gentle gradients and a smooth bitumen surface - it’s fantastic for runners. The runs will be an out and back course on the rail trail.

We have limited capacity for late entries, but can take some on Saturday 22 June. We are unable to do late entries on Sunday 23 June.  All late entries incur a $10 admin fee.

To encourage young runners, the under 18's get a discount on the 5km and 10km events.

 

CROW FM Dash for Cash: A fun event for all the family. $5 entry. First prize: $10; second: $9; third: $8, all the way to tenth position wins $1. It will be fun and all are welcome. Prizes for anyone donning a 'Dashing' outfit.

South Burnett CTC All Abilites Bridge Run: A 500m, non-competitive event and everyone wins a medal.

Hansen Kitchens 2km Fun run untimed: $5 entry; no pre-entries. Entries accepted on the day only - lots of random prizes

CUT OFF TIMES:

Cut off times are generous to encourage participation, so it’s a great opportunity to have a go at a new distance:

2km Fun run - 30 min cut off.

Saturday afternoon Forest Trails: 11.1km - 2 and half hours cut off, and 21.1km 4 hours cut off.

Sunday Rail trail events: Marathon / half marathon / 10km – all 7 hour cut offs. For Marathon runners, we expect you to have reached the half marathon turnaround point (10.5km) within 2 hours.
